Government Market Landscape Architect

The LA Group, Saratoga Springs, NY

The LA Group is seeking qualified candidates to fill a full-time landscape architecture position in our Saratoga Springs office. This role focuses primarily on our government market work, including projects for the Department of Veterans Affairs and for other federal agencies, including the National Park Service, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, among others. You'll be part of a team delivering meaningful designs that serve our nation's heroes and transform landscapes across the country. Candidates should be well organized and self-motivated to work effectively, both independently and in a team-based environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in landscape architecture, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of professional experience.
  • Project management experience.
  • Ability to work in a studio environment.
  • Ability to coordinate with a multi-disciplinary design team.
  • Strong design, graphics, communication, and technical skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Working knowledge of technical software, including Civil 3D, 3dMax, and Adobe Illustrator
  • Experience with landscape architecture projects from concept design through construction.
  • Proof of US citizenship or permanent resident status.

 

Compensation

Salary commensurate with experience, but a salary of $80,000-120,000 is anticipated based on an individual's education, credentials, skill level, and relevant experience, as well as internal pay equity, geographic location, and business needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated landscape architect or designer interested in an increased level of responsibility and high growth potential.

Project Manager - Richardson & Associates

Our projects are diverse in scale, dynamic in range and typically include working on integrated teams with a variety of like-minded allied professionals in many fields. Current and previous work includes a diverse range of high-quality public, non-profit, recreational, historic, community/downtown and residential projects completed throughout and beyond New England. R & A offers the right applicant hands on experience in the process of design from inception all the way through to in-field construction administration.

Project Manager applicants should have a minimum of 4 years proven project management experience, including excellent communication and time management skills. All associates contribute in all phases of projects, from a project’s inception with proposal writing, budgeting, and other non-billable tasks to project coordination, planning, analysis, design charettes, design development, public speaking, report writing, and permitting, as well as construction documentation and administration. Applicant should have interest in a very hands-on design process including hand drawing and construction administration in the field for most projects.

A proven track record of managing, coordinating, and collaborating with clients, consultants, contractors, and internal team members is a high priority for this position. As well, applicants should have experience with, and enjoy, a fast-paced work environment involving day-to-day management of multiple projects across a wide spectrum of types, sizes, and tasks. 

A Master’s degree is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate a high degree of competency in areas of design and have excellent written, graphic (hand and computer), computer, and technical skills. Proficiencies in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp are required. 

This individual must be a team player, have strong organizational, time-management, and multi-tasking skills, and be comfortable managing a diversity of tasks. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, articulate, and willing to take initiative.
